What I'm Buying This Week - Kroger Deals

I haven't been posting what I'm buying this week lately because I've been so busy, but things are slowing down a bit and I wanted to share! I had so much fun shopping at Kroger yesterday. It's always fun to see your totals go down with coupons and yesterday I managed to save over $100 on my trip! I spent $53 after coupons which you might think is still a lot, but I bought a lot of fresh produce as well as deli meat and a few other things which left me saving about 66%. 

As you may know, while I love to get the deals, for most people "extreme couponing" isn't realistic, so I encourage a more realistic way of couponing. You get deals on the things you can use and buy as many as you can. Extreme couponers many times buy a lot of things they don't really need just because it's free. I try to only buy things I will use or that I can give away to family and friends. I still have a nice stockpile and try to aim for at least 50% savings on my shopping trips. Most of the time it's well over that, but when you realize how hard it is to get "deals" on meat and produce a 50% savings on your entire bill is great! If I'd divided up my coupon items from the rest of my order yesterday, I would have saved more like 85%, I think because most of the coupons I used made items free or less than .50 each.

Kroger Deals - What I'm buying this week (1/27)

 

I had some major cabin fever going on today. I hadn't been out of my house for almost a week thanks to the storm, but I really wanted to get to Kroger before these deals were gone! This isn't everything I bought, but I was thrilled to get meatballs for $.99(can we say Super Bowl party?!) free Power Bars, cheap Gerber pouches to donate and lots of other goodies!

What I'm Buying This Week: Kroger Deals 10/26

I haven't posted a "What I'm Buying This Week" post in a few weeks because, quite frankly, I've been trying to stay away from Kroger. My freezer is FULL and I have an order of chicken breast coming from Zaycon in a few weeks, so I've been trying to use up things in my freezer and also in my stockpile. It's nice to have a stockpile so I can stop grocery shopping for a few weeks and just send my husband or son to the store for little things. (TIP: Sending a spouse or a child to the store for me saves me money because they usually only buy what is on the list!)

I did make a quick trip to Kroger today because I saw a few deals that I wanted to do. Most were free or close to it. I spent $32 and saved $61. I also had a digital coupon that didn't come off, so I'll need to call about that. I still thought I did well.

Some notes:

Check your Kroger mailers! You know, the little coupons you get in the mail? I had coupons for Kraft Shredded Cheese and Cottonelle(which is also on sale.) I was able to get Kraft cheese for $1.49/pkg and Cottonelle was just $3.49/12 pack!

Also, the Perdue chicken is an awesome stock up price. I was able to find plenty of packages priced at around $1.75 - $2 at my store, so I paid on average about $1.50 each for the 8 pkgs I bought.

My total today started out at $143, but after my store card and coupon savings were applied, I only spent $54!

It's also worth noting that neither the wipes nor diapers were marked as $1 at my store. They were up on a shelf above the diapers with no price. Look for 3 packs of Huggies with Mickey on the packaging. Only sizes 4 and 5 were available at my store. The wipes are 32 count with Mickey on them as well.

What I'm Buying - Channel 13 News Story

I wanted to repost this since this is what I bought in the Channel 13 news story. You can still get these prices at Kroger through TODAY. The sale changes tomorrow.

 

This week's installment of "What I'm Buying This Week" is a little different than normal because I actually hadn't planned on doing a big shopping trip this week. I'd already been to Kroger  and picked up the last things I needed on the last day of the Mega Sale event.

Then I got a phone call  from a reporter from one of our local news stations  who wanted to me to come do a coupon shop with her. How could I pass that up?

The catch was, it had to be TODAY.

So I spent a few hours printing and clipping and scouring the Kroger ad looking for some deals. I'm sure it wasn't my best total, but we also bought a lot of items that were 10 for $10 to donate to the food bank. We saved over $40 on our total and what we bought was actual food that people we can cook and not a million rolls of toilet paper. We bought spaghetti sauce, spaghetti, Hamburger Helper, Uncle Ben's Rice, cans of refried beans and more. I know the food bank is going to appreciate this donation!
