Halloween is almost here! What are you doing to get ready? Whether you're heading to the pumpkin patch or the haunted house, getting ready for Halloween is always fun! My porch is decorated with pumpkin lights and I've dug out all of our Halloween decorations for inside and out so we'll be ready when the night gets here.
I'm always looking for a reason to bake. Holiday baking isn't just for Christmas, you know! This past weekend, I decided to make some Halloween goodies. We made pumpkin cut-out cookies and cupcakes with orange frosting. My son picked me up that cute pumpkin platter a few weeks ago and I've been dying to use it! He knows how much I love Halloween, so it was perfect.
Even with all the other goodies, Halloween wouldn't be Halloween without all the yummy Halloween candy! Did you know that according to a Crest Halloween Survey, most people(73%) purposefully buy more Halloween candy than they need for trick-or-treaters so they can eat the extra? I'm definitely guilty of that. Last week, I stumbled across a deal on Halloween candy so I stocked up. We generally only get a handful of trick-or-treaters these days, but after the sale I found the other day, you'd think half the population of NYC stops by our house on Oct. 31. We have way more chocolate in the house than should be allowed!
Thankfully, there's a Crest for everyone--from Crest Kid's Toothpaste for the kids, to Crest Pro-Health or Crest 3D White for the grown-ups. Crest was a staple in my house growing up and I've passed the brand down to my kids.
According to that same Crest Halloween Survey, 86% of parents eat candy that was given to their child while trick-or-treating and the average parent eats one-fourth of their children's Halloween candy. Yes, I'm that parent. I admit it.But, we're not all bad. Seven in 10 parents enforce a stricter teeth brushing and flossing routine on Halloween. Yes, even if they don't want to brush, we get them to do it. Somehow.
You want to be the good mom. You want to give them something healthy, but deep down you know that Halloween is all about the candy. You can try to fool your kids and hide the candy, but you know they're not going to be happy without that big bucket of everything sweet. Don't worry. Go ahead and let them have their goodies, but pick them up a new toothbrush and some Crest Kid's Toothpaste to convince them to brush those teeth really well after they indulge in their Halloween fun! Crest has you covered.
This funny Halloween video from Crest shows just what happens when kids don't get the candy they're expecting for Halloween. Veggie fruit chews and tofu? I agree with the kids! No way!
