I haven't been posting what I'm buying this week lately because I've been so busy, but things are slowing down a bit and I wanted to share! I had so much fun shopping at Kroger yesterday. It's always fun to see your totals go down with coupons and yesterday I managed to save over $100 on my trip! I spent $53 after coupons which you might think is still a lot, but I bought a lot of fresh produce as well as deli meat and a few other things which left me saving about 66%.
As you may know, while I love to get the deals, for most people "extreme couponing" isn't realistic, so I encourage a more realistic way of couponing. You get deals on the things you can use and buy as many as you can. Extreme couponers many times buy a lot of things they don't really need just because it's free. I try to only buy things I will use or that I can give away to family and friends. I still have a nice stockpile and try to aim for at least 50% savings on my shopping trips. Most of the time it's well over that, but when you realize how hard it is to get "deals" on meat and produce a 50% savings on your entire bill is great! If I'd divided up my coupon items from the rest of my order yesterday, I would have saved more like 85%, I think because most of the coupons I used made items free or less than .50 each.
