I was recently sent some Persil ProClean 2in1 to try out. Persil is a new(to US markets anyway) detergent from the German company Henkel. I can be a little picky about my detergent, but I'd seen the quirky commercials for it, so I decided to give it a whirl.
First I gave it the sniff test. It has a nice scent. It's not over-powering, but a clean scent. I liked that because I don't like florals or anything that smells too strongly going on my clothes. I decided to try it first on some towels. It worked just as good as the detergent I'd been using--maybe a little better actually. Of course, this is the 2in1 version which has a power-boosted formula to help fight tough stains.
Even though it has that power-booster, it's designed for use with both white and colored laundry. I did wash both white and colored towels with it and it worked great on both if you're at all concerned.
Persil ProClean Power-Liquid 2in1 was actually rated the #1 laundry detergent by ConsumerReports.com! It kind of surprised me to find that out. Persil actually knocked Tide out of first place.
Persil is on par with Tide for price. I compared the two when I was in Walmart just recently. Persil also seems to have a slight edge over Tide when it comes to blood stains according to Consumer Reports. Since if you're here, you're probably a little budget conscious, you'll spend about 25 each for each load you do in both Tide and Persil.
Persil was originally only available at Walmart, but now it's showing up in many other retailers--including Kroger! I spotted it there this week priced at $6.43 for the 40oz which is a little more than the Walmart price.
To make things a little better, there's also a coupon to print. You can Save $2.00 off (1) Persil Proclean™ Laundry Detergent.
Disclosure: I received a sample of Persil to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own.
