I admit that I don't know that much about cars. I put the gas in and depend on the little sticker on my windshield to remind me that I need to get the oil changed.
I really didn't know what to look for when I went for an oil change. It's a good thing Motor Oil Matters came up with this checklist. Motor Oil Matters,
or MOM, a new consumer education and industry watchdog program by the American
Petroleum Institute, has been established to stress the benefits of quality
licensed motor oils and call on to the carpet those who engage in deceptive
practices.
If you want to print out a copy of the checklist to take a long for your next oil change, you can do it here.
With a good part of the summer still ahead of us, you're probably still planning a few day trips--if not a major vacation. Proper auto maintenance is key to avoiding
summertime travel breakdowns. Ensuring quality motor oil in your car is one way
to prevent road trip problems.
Many service-locators
can be quick to offer discounted services to people who are looking to reduce
their automotive maintenance costs. Make sure your service provider is pouring
quality motor oil into your car before you decide on a cheaper
deal. Sometimes getting the deal just isn't worth it if you're not getting the right oil and it causes issues with your car later on.
You can check out the Motor Oil Matters Facebook page or follow them on Twitter for more tips and information.
I'm going to be taking my checklist along with me for my next oil change and I'll be posting about that soon! In the meantime, would YOU like to have a $50 gift card to use for YOUR next oil change?
