I was absolutely thrilled to receive a copy of Rod Stewart's brand new CD to review. I grew up listening to Rod and after listening to even just a few tracks on "Time," I think you'll agree that he's still got it! His voice is the same I remember and as I sat here listening, I just kept thinking "My sister is going to be SO jealous!" She is a HUGE Rod Stewart fan and yes, I'll be a good sister and share the CD with her or maybe just buy her one of her own!
Time is Rod's first album of new material in almost 20 years, but as you can see from the cover, his hairstyle hasn't changed a bit. Neither has his voice as far as I'm concerned. You'll his hears return to his songwriting roots in twelve brand new tracks--11 of which he wrote and produced. I've listened to the CD a few times now and there's a nice mix of songs--upbeat songs, love songs and more--but my favorite at the moment is the very first song on the CD, "She Makes Me Happy." Check out the video below:
I always wonder how artists come up with their inspirations for their work. Here's what Rod had to say about Time:
"Suddenly ideas for lyrics were piling up in my head," he says. "Next thing I knew, I had a song called 'It's Over' about divorce and separation. And now I was getting up in the middle of the night and scrambling for a pen to write things down, which has never happened to me. I finished seven or eight songs very quickly and I still wasn't done, and it became apparent that I would eventually have a whole album of material to record."
Oh, to be that inspired!
The great news doesn't stop there! You're going to be able to SEE Rod in concert! He's set to embark on the European leg of his Live the Life tour on June 1st, while American dates with Steve Winwood will kick off October 17th.
If you want more info on Rod, you can follow him on Twitter! I'm sure he'll be posting tour info and details!
Disclosure: I participated in this campaign for One2One Network. I received a free copy of the CD to facilitate my review. By posting, I am eligible for incentives. All opinions stated are my own.
