Kroger to Stop Doubling Coupons in Mid-Atlantic Region

I just read some news that I thought some of my fellow Kroger shoppers in the Mid-Atlantic region might want to hear. Well, you don't want to hear this if you're a couponer, but you need to know.

Effective 5/12, Kroger will no longer double coupons in our region! According to Coupons in the News, Kroger will be implementing lower prices while eliminating double coupons entirely in the Mid-Atlantic region. This includes VA, WV, NC, and parts of KY, TN and Ohio.

Tuesday Tip: Emailing Companies

A great way to get coupons in the mail for items that you use is to contact companies and tell them what you think of their products. You don't need to complain. If you have products you love, tell them that, too!

Cindy sent me the picture above. She's been writing to various companies and received all of the coupons and products picture over the course of about a week or so. Some companies are definitely more generous than others, but you never know what you'll get when you email.

I've also been emailing and have received quite a few coupons. Here are a few tips:

1. Try to compliment the product when possible.
2. Be specific and don't just say "we love your product." Try to relate a story about how you used their product on a certain occasion or if you have a family member who has allergies, but can eat their products, relate that as well.
3. Be patient. You may not get an email reply from the company, but you could still receive coupons.
4. Don't always ask for coupons. Cindy says she has only asked for coupons a few times and look at her haul!

If you make an effort to email a few companies a day, you'll most likely end up with a nice variety of coupons!

 

Kroger Deals 3/17

I told you about The Grocery Game last week when I decided to try it out myself. This was my first week using the service and I have to say, I'm impressed. Kroger Ending Doubles in Cincinnati/Dayton Markets

Oh no. I have some really bad news to share with you. Effective March 1, 2013, Kroger will no longer double coupons in the Cincinnati and Dayton, Ohio area. This will affect 118 stores.

According to this post, Kroger will be dropping prices on 3500 items, but your coupons will only be accepted at face value.

I know that Kroger eliminated doubles in most, if not all, of Texas a while back and now with this news, I'm afraid we are probably looking at the end of double coupons at Kroger everywhere.

I can't help but wonder if TLC and their Extreme Couponing show had something to do with this. We all saw coupon abuse on that show and I know many of us worried that it would affect those of us who coupon every day to help save our families money.

Kroger Deals 10/28

There's an AWESOME sale going on this week at Kroger. I love this sale and watch for it every year. When it hits, I stock up on canned veggies, canned milk, chicken & beef broth and other items they put on sale.

You must by 10 of the participating items to get the sale price. You can mix and match sale items.

You don't need any coupons to get some great deals, but to make the deals a little better, you can print a $0.40 off any THREE Campbell's Condensed Soups. Remember you can print the coupon twice per computer.

You'll also find a coupon for $1/3 Heinz Homestyle gravy at Target.com. It's a manufacturer's coupon, so you can use it anywhere. I used 2 at Kroger this morning.

There is a HOT deal going on right now at Kroger! If you have a Kroger nearby, you don't want to miss this.

Right now there is a *Hot* Catalina deal going on. When you buy 5 select items, you'll get a $5 Catalina(the coupons that print at the register) to use on your next purchase. I haven't made it to Kroger yet, but I'm assuming you can get this $5 Catalina more than once in each transaction, too!
